Demetrios Kostouros, born in Nafplio in 1966, got his certificate from the first High School of Nafplio and studied at Gymnastics Academy of Bucharest. He specialized in basketball at the Institute of Physical Education and Sports in Bucharest.

He is currently Professor of Physical Education. He was a player and team captain of "IAKAS" of Nafplio until 1996. He worked from 1993 until taking office as Mayor of Nafplio, at private school ' New School ' in Dalamanara.


He was first elected to the City Council Nafplio in 2006 when he participated in municipal elections with the combination of Panagiotis Anagnostaras. He was president of the Municipal Education Committee, president of School Committees in Primary and Secondary Education, president of childcare facilities of Nafplio and vice Benefit Enterprise (former D.E.P.AN.) of the Municipality of Nafplio.

As Deputy Mayor of Nafplio in 2008, Demetrios Kostouros dealt systematically with the city plan and the property of the municipality.

In January 2010, he resumed deputy mayor in charge of open spaces and revenues of the municipality. He resigned in April of the same year in order to take on as president - since May 2010 - of the Municipal Sports Centre of Nafplio.

He was elected Mayor in April 2012 after the resignation of Panagiotis Anagnostaras. As an active citizen, he participates honourably from the position of chairman in the Commission of Anti-Drug Fight.

He is married to Vicky Chronopoulou with whom he has two children, John and Anastasia.
